Play is the valued mode of learning.
Our curriculum is guided by Te Whāriki — He whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa. Children direct their play while teachers notice, respond and thoughtfully extend each learning journey.

Play supports cognitive, social, emotional, cultural and physical development together. Children test ideas, communicate, create, collaborate, move and build confidence in meaningful everyday moments.
Social learning
Sharing ideas, negotiating and learning alongside others.

Our four-year-old programme
A familiar, confident path to school
Four-year-olds enjoy daily letter and number recognition through playful, age-appropriate experiences. Weekly book bags go home to encourage children and whānau to read together.
Every Monday, children visit Riverhills Primary School. These regular visits help the people, spaces and rhythms of school feel familiar before the first day arrives.

Making learning visible
Stories to revisit and share
Teachers document each child’s learning monthly through Educa. Whānau can follow new interests, celebrate progress and contribute their own observations.
Every child also has an individual hardcopy portfolio at the centre, ready to revisit together.
